UNDERSTAND THE ESTIMATE

What Affects the Cost of a Fence?

Two fences with the same approximate length can have very different installed costs. The price is shaped by the fence system, the layout, gates, removal, terrain, access, and the details that change how the job is actually built.

Fence type and construction method

Wood privacy, aluminum, chain link, specialty fence, traditional construction, and no-dig systems use different materials and assemblies. The fence type is one of the largest drivers of the project scope.

Total length and number of runs

More fence requires more material and labor, but layout matters too. A project with many short runs, corners, transitions, and end conditions can be more involved than one long straight run.

Gates

Walk gates, wider gates, double gates, hardware, posts, and placement add material and labor. Gate count is one of the most important details to include early.

Existing fence removal

Tear-out and disposal add work that a new fence on an open property does not require. Removal should be treated as its own scope instead of being hidden inside the new fence price.

Grade, access and site conditions

Slopes, tight access, landscaping, structures, trees, transitions, and other site conditions can affect how the fence is installed and how long the work takes.

The final scope matters more than a price per foot

A simple price-per-foot shortcut can hide gates, removal, corners, special posts, transitions, and different fence types. 4EverFence plans the project by run so those details are visible before the final estimate.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Fence questions

Why can two fences with the same length cost different amounts?

Fence type, gates, corners, removal, grade, access, hardware, and other project details can all change the real installed scope.

Does adding gates change the estimate?

Yes. Gates require additional components, hardware, posts, and installation work compared with a standard fence section.

Does 4EverFence price every fence only by the foot?

No. Length matters, but the estimator also accounts for project-specific assemblies and details such as gates, posts, removal, and fence type.
